CSM ends season with 77-74 win at CCU

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (Feb. 23, 2008) - Colorado School of Mines defeated Colorado Christian University by the score of 77-74 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Saturday night, February 23rd, at the Cougar Event Center in Lakewood. For the box score, click here.

Kyle Pape (7-of-8 FT) led Mines with 23 points while Chad Friehauf (five rebounds) recorded a career-best 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. Casey O'Hayre finished with nine points and three assists while Levi Hamilton tied a career high with nine rebounds. CSM concluded its 2007-08 season at 15-14 overall (8-11 RMAC).

Brian Stamer (13-of-20 FG, 9-of-12 FT, three blocked shots) registered a 35-point, 11-rebound double-double as the Cougars finished the regular season at 16-11 overall (13-6 RMAC).

Metro State edges CSM, 66-64

DENVER, Colo. (Feb. 22, 2008) - The Metropolitan State College of Denver defeated Colorado School of Mines by the score of 66-64 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Friday night, February 22nd, at the Auraria Events Center in Denver. Metro State (19-11 overall, 12-7 RMAC), which led 28-27 at the break, got six rebounds and a game-high 19 points from Terrell Burgess. Joe Ciancio, who went 4-of-6 on three-point FG attempts, concluded the night with 16 points while Lawrence Billings hauled in a game-most eight rebounds.

The Orediggers, who led by six points with just over two-and-a-half minutes remaining in the game, were led by Kyle Pape and Casey O'Hayre (5-of-7 FG, three assists, three steals), who scored 12 points apiece. Jacob Case and Chad Friehauf accounted for 10 and 11 points, respectively, as Mines fell to 14-14 overall (7-11 RMAC). Levi Hamilton grabbed seven rebounds and Cody Clickner accounted for nine points and five boards for the Orediggers, who attempted just 11 free throws.

The Orediggers will conclude the regular-season portion of their 2007-08 schedule by playing at Colorado Christian University on Saturday, February 23rd, at 7:00 p.m. at the Cougar Event Center in Lakewood.

Orediggers prevail 76-54 over Regis University

GOLDEN, Colo. (Feb. 16, 2008) - Colorado School of Mines defeated Regis University by the score of 76-54 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Saturday night, February 16th, at Lockridge Arena. For the box score, click here.

CSM's Kyle Pape (9-of-10 FT, four assists) led all scorers with 23 points as the Orediggers upped their record to 14-13 overall (7-10 RMAC). Cody Clickner added 10 points for Mines while Levi Hamilton and Chad Friehauf (nine rebounds) concluded the night with nine points apiece. Mines, which won for the fifth time in its last six outings, outscored Regis 41 to 19 in the second half.

The Rangers (13-12 overall, 8-9 RMAC) were paced by James Bullock (6-of-6 FT, six rebounds), who registered a team-high 17 points.

The Orediggers will conclude the regular-season portion of their 2007-08 schedule by playing at Metro State and Colorado Christian University on Friday and Saturday, February 22nd and 23rd. Both games are scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 p.m.

Mountain Lions claw past CSM, 99-90

GOLDEN, Colo. (Feb. 15, 2008) - The University of Colorado - Colorado Springs defeated Colorado School of Mines by the score of 99-90 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Friday evening, February 15th, at Lockridge Arena. For the box score, click here.

Four players reached double figures in scoring for UCCS, including Nick Fuller (9-of-13 FG, 6-of-7 FT) and Jordan McClung (8-of-14 FG, 5-of-5 FT), who posted 28 and 25 points, respectively. Abram Ziemer (three assists, three steals) and Eric Davis (5-of-6 FG, 6-of-6 FT) hauled in seven rebounds apiece as UCCS improved to 9-16 overall (5-12 RMAC). Davis also finished with 18 points for the Mountain Lions, who shot 48.1% (13-of-27) from three-point range and 90.0% (18-of-20) from the charity stripe.

CSM's Kyle Pape (10-of-22 FG, 7-of-7 FT) led all scorers with 29 points while Levi Hamilton (5-of-5 FG, nine rebounds) and Grant Gunhus concluded the evening with 12 points apiece. Pape, who entered the night ranked second in the RMAC in scoring (20.6 ppg), also recorded seven assists and four steals. Chad Friehauf added 10 points and nine rebounds as the Orediggers fell to 13-13 overall (6-10 RMAC).

GOLDEN, Colo. (Feb. 9, 2008) - Colorado School of Mines defeated Chadron State College by the score of 60-57 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Saturday evening, February 9th, at Lockridge Arena. For the box score, click here.

CSM's Kyle Pape (6-of-9 FG, 5-of-6 FT), who came into the game ranked second in the RMAC in scoring, led all players in points (20), rebounds (eight) and steals (five) as the Orediggers (13-12 overall, 6-9 RMAC) won their fourth straight game. Chad Friehauf chipped in with seven rebounds while Levi Hamilton and Casey O'Hayre accounted for eight points apiece.

Chadron State (7-16 overall, 6-9 RMAC) got 12 points and seven boards from Kyle Cotton.

Mines outlasts Nebraska - Kearney, 86-79

GOLDEN, Colo. (Feb. 8, 2008) - Colorado School of Mines defeated the University of Nebraska - Kearney by the score of 86-79 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Friday evening, February 8th, at Lockridge Arena. For the box score, click here.

Kyle Pape (11-of-11 FT, five rebounds) and Ben Mohr recorded 26 and 25 points, respectively, as the Orediggers came away victorious. Mohr, who went 12-of-13 from the field, scored 18 points in the second half to help CSM (12-12 overall, 5-9 RMAC) overcome a seven-point halftime deficit. Mohr and Casey O'Hayre grabbed six boards apiece as the Orediggers outscored the Lopers 52-38 in the second stanza.

All five UNK starters reached double figures in scoring, including Garrett Lever (10-of-10 FT), who led his squad with 20 points. Josiah Parker (7-of-12 FG, team-most nine rebounds) and Drake Beranek (five rebounds) each finished with 16 points as UNK fell to 12-11 overall (10-5 RMAC).

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 2, 2008) - Colorado School of Mines defeated the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs by the score of 79-72 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Saturday evening, February 2nd, at The Lions' Den. For the box score, click here.

Kyle Pape (7-of-14 FG, 9-of-10 FT) led all scorers with 26 points as the Orediggers won for the second time in as many nights. Ben Mohr notched his seventh double-double of the season with 10 points and a game-most 12 rebounds, and Chad Friehauf finished with 10 points and five assists. Levi Hamilton recorded eight points and nine boards, as well, as CSM improved to 11-12 overall (4-9 RMAC).

Nic Fuller (6-of-6 FT) recorded team-highs in points (23) and rebounds (eight) for UCCS. Kyle Perkins concluded the night with 19 points as the Mountain Lions fell to 7-14 overall (3-10 RMAC).

DENVER, Colo. (Feb. 1, 2008) - Colorado School of Mines defeated Regis University by the score of 69-65 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Friday evening, February 1st, at the Regis Fieldhouse. For the box score, click here.

CSM's Kyle Pape (8-of-13 FG, 6-of-6 FT) led all players with 24 points as the Orediggers improved to 10-12 overall (3-9 RMAC). Chad Friehauf (4-of-6 FG, two steals) registered an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double for the Orediggers, who shot 56.4 % from the floor (22-of-39).

Regis University, which out-rebounded Mines 36 to 24, was paced by Geremey Gibson, who led the Rangers in points (18) and rebounds (eight). James Bullock chipped in with 15 points as RU fell to 13-8 overall (8-5 RMAC).

Pape nets career-high 37 points as Mines drops 78-75 decision at UNK

KEARNEY, Neb. (Jan. 26, 2008) - The University of Nebraska - Kearney defeated Colorado School of Mines by the score of 78-75 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon, January 26th, at the Health & Sports Center. For the box score, click here.

After going into halftime tied with UNK at 40-40, the Orediggers led by 12 (64-52) with 12:46 remaining in the game. However, UNK chipped away at its deficit, and Jeremy Cruise's three-point FG with 1:47 remaining gave the Lopers (9-10 overall, 7-4 RMAC) a lead that they would not relinquish.

UNK's Garrett Lever (9-of-16 FG, six rebounds) recorded a team-high 25 points while Drake Beranek (four assists) registered a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double. Jeff Martin added 19 points for the Lopers, who attempted 26 free throws.

CSM's Kyle Pape (5-of-5 FT) amassed a career-high 37 points on 15-of-22 shooting from the field as Mines fell to 9-12 overall (2-9 RMAC). For Pape, who has reached double figures in scoring in 19 of Mines' 21 games, it was the second time in the last four games that he had reached the 30-point plateau. Levi Hamilton and Chad Friehauf (11 points) each finished with seven rebounds while Ben Mohr six boards and a game-most seven assists.

The Orediggers will play Regis University on Friday, Feb. 1st (5:00 p.m.), and at UC - Colorado Springs on Saturday, Feb. 2nd (8:00 p.m.).

Chadron State gets past CSM, 76-74

CHADRON, Neb. (Jan. 24, 2008) - Chadron State College defeated Colorado School of Mines by the score of 76-74 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Thursday evening, January 24th, at Armstrong Gymnasium. For the box score, click here.

The Eagles, who trailed by 10 points (41-31) at halftime, got a three-point FG from Tim McLauren as time expired to provide the margin of victory. McLauren (8-of-16 FG, eight rebounds) finished with a team-best 20 points while Kyle Cotton (5-of-6 FG, 6-of-7 FT) chipped in with 17 points of his own. Chadron State, which outscored CSM 45-33 in the second period, improved to 7-12 overall (6-5 RMAC).

Four Orediggers reached double digits in scoring, including Kyle Pape (three assists, 8-of-8 FT), who compiled a game-high 21 points. Ben Mohr, who led all players in rebounds (nine) and assists (six), registered 11 points and Casey O'Hayre (4-of-5 FG, three assists) concluded the night with 12 points. Roadrunners edge Orediggers, 64-62

GOLDEN, Colo. (Jan. 19, 2008) - The Metropolitan State College of Denver defeated Colorado School of Mines by the score of 64-62 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Saturday evening, January 19th, at Lockridge Arena. For the box score, click here.

Jesse Wagstaff's layup with nine seconds remaining in regulation provided the final margin of victory for Metro State (11-9 overall, 4-5 RMAC). Wagstaff (team-high five rebounds) went 10-of-19 from the field and led all players with 23 points.

Ben Mohr (8-of-10 FG) amassed a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double for the Orediggers, who out-rebounded MSCD 29 to 22. Kyle Pape recorded 11 points, five assists and five rebounds as Mines, which shot 65.2 % from the floor in the second half, dropped to 9-10 overall (2-7 RMAC).

Three Cougar starters reach double figures in scoring, including Brian Stamer (7-of-10 FG, seven rebounds), who amassed a team-most 18 points. Rory Morgan (7-of-11 FG) and Brendan Puckett chipped in with 16 and 11 points, respectively, as CCU improved to 10-6 overall (8-1 RMAC).

Four Grizzlies reached double figures in scoring, including Vitor de Zoppa, who tallied a team-most 17 points. Seth Heinbaugh (5-of-7 FG) finished with 15 points while Marcus Mortensen and Sean Amos chipped in with 14 points apiece. de Zoppa, Amos, Heinbaugh and Travis Carr all snared six boards. Adams State, which shot 60.8 % from the field (31-of-51), improved to 10-5 overall (4-3 RMAC).

PUEBLO, Colo. (Jan. 10, 2008) - Colorado School of Mines defeated Colorado State University - Pueblo by the score of 66-61 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Thursday evening, January 10th, at the Colorado State Fair Events Center. The Orediggers were led by Ben Mohr (10-of-13 FT), who tallied a team-high 20 points. Mohr also accounted for five rebounds and four assists while Kyle Pape (8-of-8 FT, five rebounds, three assists) and Chad Friehauf (5-of-8 FG, 5-of-6 FT, five rebounds) concluded the night with 15 points apiece. CSM, which converted on 26-of-30 free throw attempts as a team, improved to 9-7 overall (2-4 RMAC).

Julien Franklin paced the Thunderwolves with 20 points while Chris Childress collected a game-most nine boards. CSU - Pueblo fell to 4-10 overall (1-6 RMAC) despite out-rebounding Colorado School of Mines 37 to 25.

The Orediggers will play at Adams State College (Alamosa, Colo.) on Friday, January 11th, at 8:00 p.m. at Plachy Hall.

FLC Skyhawks soar to 98-63 victory at Colorado Mines

GOLDEN, Colo. (Jan. 5, 2008) - Fort Lewis College defeated Colorado School of Mines by the score of 98-63 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Saturday evening, January 5th, at Lockridge Arena. For the box score, click here.

Fort Lewis was led by Devon Manning, who concluded the night with a game-high 29 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field. Manning, who went 6-of-10 from three-point range, led all players with 10 rebounds, as well. Ryan Yates (9-of-10 FG) and DeAndre Lansdowne (6-of-7 FG) added 22 and 14 points, respectively, as the Skyhawks improved to 9-3 overall (4-1 RMAC). Fort Lewis shot 63.2 % from the floor (36-of-57) on Saturday, including 14-of-27 from three-point range.

Jacob Case led Mines (8-7 overall, 1-4 RMAC) with 17 points while Ben Mohr amassed 11 points and six boards.

GOLDEN, Colo. (Jan. 4, 2008) - Mesa State College defeated Colorado School of Mines by the score of 95-89 in double overtime in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Friday evening, January 4th, at Lockridge Arena. For the box score, click here.

Five Mavericks reached double digits in scoring and Mesa State outscored Colorado School of Mines 9-3 in the second overtime period to improve to 6-6 overall (3-2 RMAC). Justin Ashbaugh (8-of-13 FG, 9-of-10 FT) led all players with 28 points (10-of-12 FG) while Kurt Bangle (7-of-10 FG) and Ryan Mathews recorded 16 points apiece.

CSM's Drew Hoffman connected on 6-of-9 field goal attempts - including 5-of-5 from three-point range - en route to a team-high 17 points. Kyle Pape, who entered the game ranked second in the RMAC in scoring (20.3 points per game), concluded the evening with 15 points for the Orediggers (8-6 overall, 1-3 RMAC).

Host schools record wins at Metro State / Mines Holiday Classic

GOLDEN, Colo. (Dec. 29, 2007) - The Metropolitan State College of Denver and Colorado School of Mines both posted victories during day-two action of the 2007-08 Metro State / Mines Holiday Classic on Saturday evening, December 29th, at Lockridge Arena. Metro State edged Minnesota - Duluth by the score of 77-72 in overtime while Mines defeated St. Gregory's University by the count of 87-58.

In Saturday's opening game, Terrell Burgess (6-of-8 FG) posted a team-high 23 points as the Roadrunners (8-7 overall) came away victorious in the match-up between NCAA Division II schools. MSCD's Marquise Carrington finished with 18 points while Jesse Wagstaff (10 points) amassed a team-most seven rebounds. Minnesota - Duluth (7-8 overall) got 29 and 21 points, respectively, from Jordan Nuness (7-of-12 from three-point range) and Brian Sykora. For the box score, click here.

DENVER, Colo. (Dec. 28, 2007) - Colorado School of Mines defeated Minnesota - Duluth by the score of 74-56 in non-conference NCAA Division II men's basketball action on Friday evening in opening-day action of the 2007-08 Metro State / Mines Holiday Classic at the Auraria Events Center in Denver. Mines' Kyle Pape (7-of-8 FT) led all scorers with 23 points while Grant Gunhus went 6-of-8 from the floor and finished with 17 points. Ben Mohr registered game-highs in rebounds (11), assists (four) and blocked shots (two) while Chad Friehauf finished the contest with 10 points and five boards. Levi Hamilton snared eight rebounds, as well, as the Orediggers improved to 7-5 overall.

The Bulldogs were paced by Jordan Nuness, who recorded a team-high 20 points. Minnesota - Duluth shot just 36.5 % from the field (23-of-63) while falling to 7-7 overall.

The second and final day of the 2007-08 Metro State / Mines Holiday Classic will take place on Saturday, December 29th, at Lockridge Arena in Golden. Metro State will square off against Minnesota - Duluth in the 6:00 p.m. game and CSM will host St. Gregory's University at 8:00 p.m.

Mines defeats Hawaii Pacific, 73-61

HONOLULU, Hawaii (Dec. 22, 2007) - Colorado School of Mines defeated Hawaii Pacific University by the score of 73-61 in non-conference NCAA Division II men's basketball action on Saturday night. For the box score, click here.

Hawaii native Kyle Pape led all players with 20 points as the Orediggers improved to 6-5 overall. Saturday marked the third game in a row - and eighth time in 11 contests - that Pape has reached the 20-point plateau this year. Sean Armstrong (5-of-7 FG, 5-of-5 FT) recorded 17 points and Ben Mohr (nine points, four assists) collected a game-best eight rebounds. Chad Friehauf, who drew his first starting assignment of the 2007-08 season, contributed nine points.

Rishi Kakad and Jason Curtis finished with 19 and 15 points, respectively, for the Sea Warriors (3-5 overall).

Seattle Pacific gets past Mines, 83-68

LAIE, Hawaii (Dec. 21, 2007) - Seattle Pacific University defeated Colorado School of Mines by the score of 83-68 in non-conference NCAA Division II men's basketball action on Friday. For the box score, click here.

Seattle Pacific's Marques Echols went 10-of-14 from the field and led all players with 25 points. Three other Falcons reached double digits in scoring, including Rob Diederichs, who contributed 15 points as SPU improved to 6-1 overall.

Hawaii native Kyle Pape (8-of-16 FG, 6-of-6 FT) amassed a team-high 22 points while Ben Mohr (9-of-17 from the field) compiled a 20-point, 12-rebound double-double as the Orediggers fell to 5-5 overall. Chad Friehauf (6-of-9 FG), playing in just his second contest of the 2007-08 campaign, added 17 points and seven rebounds.

CSM will square off against Hawaii Pacific University on Saturday, Dec. 22nd, at 10:30 p.m. (Mountain Standard Time) in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Western New Mexico defeats CSM, 69-61

SILVER CITY, N.M. (Dec. 16, 2007) - Western New Mexico University defeated Colorado School of Mines by the score of 69-61 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Sunday evening at Drag's Court. For the box score, click here.

Trey Clarkson (7-of-10 FG) led the Mustangs (5-4 overall, 2-1 RMAC) with 18 points while Steve Berrelleza went 6-of-9 from the floor and finished with 17 points.

The Orediggers (5-4 overall, 1-2 RMAC), who held a 31-30 lead at the half, were paced by Kyle Pape's game-high 21 points. Casey O'Hayre compiled 10 points and five boards while Ben Mohr (4-of-5 FG) contributed eight points and a game-most 11 rebounds. Chad Friehauf recorded nine points and eight rebounds in his first game of the season.

LAS VEGAS, N.M. (Dec. 14, 2007) - Colorado School of Mines defeated New Mexico Highlands University by the score of 76-63 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Friday evening at the John A. Wilson Complex. For the box score, click here.

The Orediggers (5-3 overall, 1-1 RMAC) had four individuals score in double figures on Friday night, as Ben Mohr led all players with 14 points and eight boards. Kyle Pape chipped in with 13 points while Grant Gunhus and Jacob Case ended with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

NMHU fell to 0-10 overall (0-3 RMAC).

Mountaineers upend Mines, 66-61

GOLDEN, Colo. (Dec. 6, 2007) - Western State College defeated Colorado School of Mines by the count of 66-61 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) men's basketball action on Thursday evening at Lockridge Arena. For the box score, click here.

WSC's Carleton Goggins (10-of-12 FG) led all scorers with 27 points while Jeremy Brooks amassed a game-high 10 rebounds. Goggins connected on 5-of-7 three-point field goal attempts for Western State (2-5, 1-0 RMAC) while Steven Hudson finished with 11 points and four assists. Colorado School of Mines (4-3, 0-1 RMAC) got 20 points apiece from Ben Mohr (8-of-8 FG, team-most eight rebounds) and Jacob Case (6-of-9 FG).

Northwest Nazarene knocks off Orediggers, 77-71

NAMPA, Idaho (Dec. 1, 2007) - Northwest Nazarene University defeated Colorado School of Mines by the score of 77-71 during day-two action of the Shilo Inn & Suites Classic on Saturday, Dec. 1st. For the box score, click here.

Kendall Gielow (8-of-11 FG) led NNU with 19 points while Tyler Roberts and Scott Helpenstell (6-of-7 FG) registered 15 and 14 points, respectively. Northwest Nazarene, which led 34-31 at the half, improved to 5-0 overall.

CSM's Kyle Pape went 9-of-16 from the floor and led all players with 21 points. Ben Mohr finished with 17 points and eight rebounds while Cameron Marshall contributed 13 points.

Five score in double figures in CSM's 114-70 win over MSU - Billings

NAMPA, Idaho (Nov. 30, 2007) - Colorado School of Mines defeated the Montana State-Billings Yellowjackets by the score of 114-70 during day-one action of the Shilo Inn & Suites Classic on Friday, Nov. 30th, at Northwest Nazarene University. For the box score, click here.

Five Orediggers reached double figures in scoring as Kyle Pape recorded a team-most 24 points and Grant Agee came off of the bench to score 22. Ben Mohr ended the night with a 19-point, 15-rebound double-double while Cameron Marshall and Grant Gunhus contributed 15 and 11 points, respectively.

The Yellowjackets were led by John Brooks who had a game high 25 points.

CSM will return to action Saturday night with game two of the Classic against hosts Northwest Nazarene. Game time is at 5:30 pm.

Mines improves to 3-1 with victory over Hawaii - Hilo during day-two action
at CSM / Regis University Thanksgiving Classic

DENVER, Colo. (Nov. 24, 2007) - Colorado School of Mines defeated the University of Hawaii at Hilo by the score of 77-72 during day-two action of the 2007-08 CSM / Regis Uninversity Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday, Nov. 24th, at the Regis Fieldhouse. For the box score, click here.

The Orediggers got a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double from Ben Mohr, who went 7-of-9 from the field and added five assists. Kyle Pape (game-high 24 points) reached the 20-point plateau for the third time in four games and Jacob Case (5-of-8 FG) concluded the night with 17 points.

Jacob Briggs paced the Vulcans (1-2 overall) with his 19 points while Samuel Wilhoite recorded 16 points and 14 boards.

Colorado School of Mines (3-1 overall) will return to action next weekend (Friday and Saturday, Nov. 30th and Dec. 1st) with two games at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. The Orediggers will face MSU - Billings on Friday and Northwest Nazarene on Saturday.

Rangers, Orediggers register victories during day-one action
at CSM / Regis University Thanksgiving Classic

GOLDEN, Colo. (Nov. 23, 2007) - Regis University and Colorado School of Mines both posted victories during opening-night action of the 2007-08 CSM / RU Thanksgiving Classic on Friday, November 23rd, at Lockridge Arena. Regis defeated the University of Hawaii at Hilo by the score of 65-58 while the Orediggers knocked off Eastern New Mexico University by the count of 77-60.

In the early contest, Regis University (1-0 overall) had three players reach double figures in scoring, including Geremey Gibson, who amassed a game-high 18 points. Aaron Sutton and Gabriel Green finished with 13 and 11 points, respectively, while Gary Street grabbed six rebounds. Hawaii - Hilo (1-1 overall), which committed 23 turnovers, got a team-best 13 points from John Smith while Perry Baggett and Jacob Briggs each hauled in eight rebounds. The Orediggers got 17 points apiece from Kyle Pape and Grant Gunhus (7-of-10 FG) while improving to 2-1 overall. Drew Hoffman, who went 5-of-6 from the field, added 13 points while Ben Mohr finished with game-highs in rebounds (11) and assists (seven). The Greyhounds were led by Justin Redman-Trotter (six rebounds) in Friday's late game, who paced all scorers with 22 points. Morningside, CSM post victories in day-two action at Mines Tipoff Classic

GOLDEN, Colo. (Nov. 17, 2007) - Morningside College and Colorado School of Mines both posted victories during day-two action at the 2007-08 Mines Tipoff Classic on Saturday evening, November 17th, at Lockridge Arena. Morningside College defeated Mesa State College by the score of 73-65 while Mines edged Eckerd College in overtime by the count of 74-73.

In Saturday's opening contest, Thomas Pargett (six rebounds, six assists) registered a game-high 18 points as the Mustangs improved their record to 6-0 overall. Shane Michael, who went 6-of-8 from the floor, connected on four three-pointers and finished with 16 points. Four Mavericks reached double digits in scoring, including Kurt Bangle, who led Mesa State with 15 points. Ben Mohr (five assists) recorded a 16-point, 15-rebound double-double as Mines posted a one-point overtime victory in the Mines Tipoff Classic finale. Mesa State, Morningside College post victories at Mines Tipoff Classic

GOLDEN, Colo. (Nov. 16, 2007) - Mesa State College and Morningside College both posted victories during opening-day action at the 2007-08 Mines Tipoff Classic on Friday evening, November 16th, at Lockridge Arena. Mesa State defeated Eckerd College by the score of 80-55 while Morningside College got past Colorado School of Mines in overtime by the count of 87-83.

In the early game, Mesa State got 20 points and five rebounds from Kurt Bangle (10-of-10 FT) while improving to 1-0 overall. Mines defeats Johnson & Wales Univ., 72-54, in exhibition game

GOLDEN, Colo. (Nov. 9, 2007) - Colorado School of Mines defeated Johnson & Wales University (Colo.) by the score of 72-54 in a collegiate men's basketball exhibition game on Friday evening, November 9th, at Lockridge Arena.

Kyle Pape and Ben Mohr each recorded double-doubles for the Orediggers, who shot 47.9 % as a team (23-of-48). Pape, who was named to the 2007-08 Pre-Season All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) East Division squad, grabbed 11 rebounds and led all players with 16 points. Mohr, who tallied 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, topped all players with six assists while collecting a game-high 14 boards. Jacob Case contributed 11 points as CSM (NCAA Division II) shot 52.4 % from beyond the three-point arc (13-of-24).

Sasha Pate led the Wildcats with 15 points while going 6-of-9 from the field. Andrew Baker added 10 points as Johnson & Wales (NAIA) converted on just 9-of-22 free throw attempts and shot 37.3 % from the floor (19-of-51).

The Orediggers will begin their regular-season schedule by hosting the Mines Tipoff Classic on Friday and Saturday, November 16th and 17th, at Lockridge Arena. CSM will host Morningside College on Friday and Eckerd College on Saturday, with both games scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m.

Orediggers drop 92-79 exhibition game at Northern Colorado

GREELEY, Colo. (Nov. 4, 2007) - The University of Northern Colorado defeated Colorado School of Mines by the score of 92-79 on Sunday afternoon in NCAA exhibition men's basketball action at Butler - Hancock Hall.

UNC had four players reach double figures in scoring, including Jabril Banks (20 points), who was perfect from the floor (7-of-7) and the charity stripe (6-of-6). Thanasi Panagiotakopoulos accounted for 11 points, four rebounds and eight assists as the Bears outscored CSM 59-34 in the second half of play.

The Orediggers were paced by Kyle Pape, who led all players with 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor. Jacob Case, who went 5-of-6 from three-point range, concluded the afternoon with 19 points and four boards. CSM's Grant Gunhus (5-of-6 FT) recorded 16 points, two steals and a game-most eight rebounds.
