CSM MEN'S BASKETBALL SIGNS DREW HOFFMAN TO LETTER OF INTENT

GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines Head Men's Basketball Coach Pryor Orser has announced the signing of Drew Hoffman (Tulare, Calif./Tulare Western) to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday morning.

"We are extremely excited to have someone of Drew's caliber join our program," Orser said. "He is someone we targeted a year ago and stayed with him until the end. Drew was fit for our school and our system after the initial contact. He is a special athlete with a high energy motor who excelled not only at basketball, but several other sports as well."

"Drew is a strong, tough and crafty left handed player," Orser continued. "He will give opponents fits with his unorthodox style of play. He is a good shooter, finisher and rebounder and has ultra quick hands. I personally look forward to coaching Drew."

Hoffman, a 6-foot-3, 190 pound guard, lettered three years in high school. As a senior, he averaged 18.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 4.5 steals per game in leading his team to the EYL League Championship and a 25-6 record. Tulare fell to Edison in the Division II CIF Section Championship and then lost to National power Mater Dei in the loser out game.

Hoffman was selected to three All-Tournament Teams as a senior, including the Buchanan-Clovis West, Tulare Classic and Polly Wilhelmsen. In addition, he was named to the Fresno Bee All-Star Team.

As a junior, Hoffman earned EYL Second Team All-League honors after leading Tulare to the EYL League Championship and the Division II CIF Central Section Championship. During his sophomore season, he was part of an undefeated EYL League Championship Team.

As a freshman, Hoffman served as the captain of the freshman team and was named the Best Offensive Player on the squad. During the springs and summers of 2003-06, Hoffman played on the Central Cali Superstars. He played 20 games in Las Vegas and Los Angeles and averaged 7.0 points per game.

Hoffman also lettered in tennis and water polo at Tulare Western.
