Edmiston named RMAC / Baden
East Division Player of the Week

GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines' Kaity Edmiston has been selected as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference / Baden East Division Player of the Week for the period ending September 1st, as announced today by the RMAC.

Edmiston, a 6'0" sophomore middle blocker from Palisade, Colo. (Palisade H.S.), averaged 3.06 kills per game, 1.63 digs per game and 1.50 blocks per game as CSM went 2-2 during the Days Inn - Denver West Oredigger Volleyball Classic on Friday and Saturday, August 31st and September 1st, at Lockridge Arena in Golden.

In CSM's five-game victory over Merrimack College on Saturday, Edmiston recorded a triple-double with 13 kills, 17 digs and 10 total blocks. Later that evening, Edmiston registered 13 kills and hit .429 from the net in the Orediggers' three-game win over Missouri - Rolla. Edmiston, who was named to the Days Inn - Denver West Oredigger Volleyball Classic All-Tournament Team, compiled 49 kills, 26 digs, 24 total blocks and a .173 hitting percentage over the weekend.

An Honorable Mention All-RMAC selection last season, Edmiston was also selected as the RMAC's Co-Freshman of the Year prior to the 2006 volleyball season. Edmiston, who also competes for the CSM track & field team, established new outdoor school records in the 100-meter hurdles (14.92) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.13) during her freshman campaign. Edmiston garnered Second Team All-RMAC recognition for indoor track and First Team All-RMAC honors in outdoor track in 2006-07.

CSM (2-6 overall) will begin the RMAC portion of its schedule by playing at UC - Colorado Springs on Friday, September 7th, and at Regis University on Saturday, September 8th. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. The Orediggers will next play at home on Tuesday, September 11th, hosting Colorado College. The match against Colorado College, which is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m., will be played at Volk Gymnasium.
