FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Haniszewski named RMAC Special Teams Player of the Week
GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines' Nick Haniszewski has been selected as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week for games played on Saturday, September 15th, as announced today by the RMAC. Haniszewski, a 6'2", 205-lb. sophomore linebacker from Honey Creek, Iowa (Roncalli Catholic High School), blocked Adams State College's potential game-tying 28-yard field goal attempt with just 16 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to preserve the Orediggers' 10-7 victory over the Grizzlies last Saturday at Rex Stadium in Alamosa, Colo. For Haniszewski, who leads CSM in total tackles (26) through three games in 2007, it was his second blocked kick of the season. Haniszewski also registered 11 total tackles (0.5 for a loss) in the Orediggers' victory at Adams State. With the win, Colorado School of Mines improved to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the RMAC. As a redshirt freshman in 2006, Haniszewski finished fourth on the Orediggers with 54 total tackles (24 solo). The Orediggers will host Chadron State College on Saturday, September 22nd, at 12:00 p.m. at Brooks Field.
