Craig Thompson

GOLDEN, Colo. - Three student-athletes from the Colorado School of Mines men's soccer team have earned NSCAA / adidas All-Midwest Region honors, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Craig Thompson and Nick Kubala both earned First Team All-Midwest Region honors while Ross Davis garnered Second Team All-Midwest Region recognition.

Thompson, a 5'8", 160-lb. senior forward from Littleton, Colo. (Highlands Ranch High School), was also a First Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and Daktronics First Team All-Midwest Region selection this fall. Thompson led the Orediggers and established a new individual single-season program record with 18 goals in 2007. Thompson, who also led CSM in assists (tied - five) and game-winning goals (four) this year, tied Mines' individual single-season program record for total points (41) during his final season in an Oredigger uniform. A three-time Academic All-RMAC performer in the classroom (2005, 2006 and 2007), Thompson went on to earn RMAC Player of the Year and RMAC Academic Player of the Year accolades in 2007. Thompson garnered Second Team All-Midwest Region laurels as a junior in 2006.

A 6'0", 155-lb. senior midfielder from Houston, Texas (Taylor High School), Kubala brought home First Team All-RMAC honors after finishing second on the Orediggers in goals (nine) and total points (22). A First Team Academic All-RMAC performer in 2007, Kubala (four assists) also earned ESPN The Magazine / CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District accolades. A 2007 All-RMAC Tournament Team selection, Kubala earned Academic All-RMAC recognition in 2006, as well.

Davis, a 6'1", 175-lb. senior defender from Muskegon, Mich. (Muskegon High School), guided an Oredigger defense that held opponents to just 36 goals this fall. A Second Team All-RMAC pick, Davis concluded the 2007 season with one goal and one assist.

The Orediggers, who qualified as the #4 seed in the 2007 RMAC Tournament and advanced into the league's championship match, finished the 2007 season with an 11-9-2 overall record (7-6-1 in the RMAC).
