Schiechl named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week

GOLDEN, Colo. (Oct. 8, 2007) - Colorado School of Mines' Marc Schiechl has been selected as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week for games played on Saturday, October 6th, as announced today by the RMAC.

Schiechl, a 6'3", 235-lb. redshirt freshman defensive end from Lakewood, Colo. (Bear Creek High School), recorded seven total tackles - including five solo - and established a new individual single-game school record with 4.0 sacks in the Orediggers' 28-0 victory at New Mexico Highlands University on October 6th. Schiechl also registered 4.5 tackles for a loss as Colorado School of Mines posted its first shutout of the 2007 campaign.

For the season, Schiechl leads CSM in tackles for a loss (8.0) and sacks (7.5).

Colorado School of Mines (3-3 overall, 2-1 RMAC) will host Western New Mexico University (2-4, 2-2 RMAC) on Saturday, October 13th, in the Orediggers' annual Homecoming game. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at Brooks Field.
