GOLDEN, Colo. - Colorado School of Mines Alyson Burchardt was named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District women's soccer first team, as announced Thursday by the committee.

The district named 13 student-athletes to the first team, 10 to the second team and 11 to the third team. There are eight districts nationally. Burchardt, along with the other first-team selections, advance to the national ballot and are eligible for academic All-American honors.

To be eligible for such honors, the student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve, must have a grade point average of at least 3.20 and must be at least a sophomore, both academically and athletically.

Burchardt, a senior at Mines, holds a GPA of 4.0 and is ranked second on the team with six goals. Burchardt has been with the women's soccer team since it became a collegiate sport in 2005. She also is a member of this year's squad that qualified for the RMAC tournament for the first time in program history. The Orediggers finished regular season play with an overall record of 11-7-1.
