CSM MEN'S SOCCER MOVES UP IN REGIONAL POLL;
CRAIG THOMPSON EARNS RMAC HONORS GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines men's soccer team moved up in the regional rankings this past week, while one individual earned Conference honors. It was announced Tuesday afternoon that the Colorado School of Mines men's soccer team is now ranked fourth in the Midwest Region, according to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/ADIDAS weekly poll. Mines moved up from last week's poll where they were ranked sixth. The Orediggers moved up from sixth to fourth after winning their last three games this past weekend. Mines ranks fourth behind Incarnate Word, Midwestern State University and Metro State. Mines will be put to the test September 21st when they face Metro State at home at 7:30 pm. It was also announced Tuesday afternoon by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference that forward Craig Thompson was this week's RMAC Offensive Player of the Week. Thompson earned this award after averaging two goals and four points per game last week and netted two game-winning goals to lead the Orediggers to a 3-0 conference start. He scored two goals against Colorado Christian, followed by another goal in a 3-0 win against CSU-Pueblo. He finished off his impressive week with a hat trick against UC-Colorado Springs on Sunday with a 3-0 shutout. Thompson tallied 16 shots over the three games, 11 of which were on goal. The Orediggers will return to action this weekend with road games at Mesa State on Friday and Fort Lewis on Sunday.
