for Indoor Nationals
GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines track & field team will be sending five individuals to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships next weekend, March 14-15, in Mankato, Minnesota. The Orediggers set to compete at the championships are Joel Hamilton, Mark Husted, Nick Maynard, Sean Cusick and Kiera Benson. All four men will be on the Distance Medley Relay team that currently holds the fastest time in the nation for Division II. Hamilton will also compete in the men's 5000 meters while Husted and Maynard will be racing in the 800 meters. Hamilton, an eight time All-American in both cross country and track & field, is ranked fifth in the 5000 meters. Husted is ranked sixth in the 800 while Maynard is ninth. Benson, the lone woman competing for Mines, has started off her collegiate career with a bang. The freshman from Needville, Texas, not only will compete at the National meet in the 60-meter dash, but she also set school records in both the 60-meters and 200-meters during her rookie season.
